This large, beautiful backyard located at a historic Marin home needed a refresh. A lot of shade from several stunning, mature trees made choosing the correct plants for the space imperative. The degraded pathways and stairs needed to be replaced for safety and usability. Together with the client, we designed a lovely, peaceful classic California landscape perfect for strolling and sitting.

Peaceful Retreat in Novato

This client wanted a soothing, Napa-style landscape where she could entertain friends and family, and also hone her green thumb. Lots of calming whites and lavenders and neat and tidy design make this a perfect space for enjoying time outside.

Indian Valley Homestead

This home in rural Novato is the client’s retirement sanctuary. Mostly new construction, the gardens here were essentially a blank slate. Low-water, pollinator-friendly, and high enjoyment were the goals of this project.

Hamilton Backyard

This project is a perfect example of how proper design can allow for an efficient use of a small space. This backyard provides cut flowers, a sweet flagstone patio for seating, and two raised beds for growing vegetables.


Lemons & Lavender Suburban Homestead

This is my home where I grow food and herbs for my family and community. It is also a habitat for so much local wildlife. Over the years, I’ve been amazed by the diversity of creatures who have visited my suburban yard. My home garden is very experimental, and I am always trying and learning new things to help me serve my clients better!
